I have dabbled a bit in using drop shipping as a means to generate income online. E-commerce is definitely a way to make money online but it also falls into the category of a work at home job. Using wholesale dropshipping to me is much more stressful than building tons of niche blogs but usually the money is pretty good. I really don’t like being responsible for other peoples money. Plus with dropshipping you need to stay on top of your business every minute. this would be fine if you online had one or two sources of generating income. Most people that run an e-commerce business only have one store or two at the most. With my business model of building niche blogs I have hundreds of sites. But most of these are set and forget.

I am not saying that wholesale dropshipping is bad its just that it requires more work daily than I care to be responsible for. Let me see if I can explain this better.

I started selling stuff on eBay. I was doing fairly well but I had to constantly replenish my supplies. This meant a lot of time going to auctions, flee markets, garage sales and so forth and so on. This felt more like a work at home job than a business. No inventory meant no sales. At this time I was hearing a lot about dropshipping and how easy it was. You did not have to have an inventory and all you had to do was be able to drive traffic to your e-biz or to eBay. You were getting your products available for way below retail prices. So I jumped in and joined Worldwide Brands. No problem so far. Worldwide Brands has a great reputation for having legitimate wholesale companies and tons of dropshippers willing to work with you. Some dropshippers charge an extra fee to use their service and some you can use their dropshipping company service for no extra charge. A win win situation all around.

I stayed with dropshipping companies that were American dropshippers. I just felt more comfortable with American dropshippers as I could check out the companies online and shipping was usually cheaper and quicker for my buyers. This way I could offer bare bottom prices on my merchandise. This made making sales on eBay much easier.

I run a website advertising my merchandise but I try to direct potential buyers to eBay so I do not have to deal with a shopping cart and handling credit cards. EBay has their own merchant account and use PayPal, a very trusted source when it comes to your buyers. With eBay all I have to do is run my products in their auctions and they handle the sale. Once I get the sale and after eBay fees I then forward the money need to purchase the product from the dropshippers and they in turn send out the product to your buyer. The wholesale dropshippers in turn sends you confirmation on its shipping and also sends confirmation to the buyer. Anything over and above the cost of the product and eBay’s fees is money in your pocket. Still sounds great right?

Well, do to my lack of staying on top of my business every moment, some of the products I had up for sale had raised in price. My fault for not checking my sources regularly. So I lost money on some deals because of my not being diligent. I though my dropshipping companies would inform me of pending price increases prior to changing prices. Not always!

Once I made the sale I worried about my customer receiving their products on time and in good shape. For handling unhappy customers was not something I really wanted to deal with. And what if these people wanted a refund after receiving their products. Refunds would fall on me and then I would have to get refunded back from the dropshippers. Fortunately I never ran into this situation but it could have happened. I sell some high priced items and refunds could make one hell of a dent in my checkbook. Worry, Worry, Worry!

Talk about a high stress work at home job! I did not want to trade my day job for another high stress job at home. I just wanted to make money online at home.

I still make money with wholesale dropshippers but I just do not hit it as hard as I once did. I find niche marketing with blogging way more satisfying and a lot less stressful. I am not saying wholesale dropshipping is a bad thing or that there are not a lot of people making big big money with this business model. I am just trying to point out what the ups and downs are. Dropshipping is a quick way to make money but for me it just isn’t a long term business model I want to persue.

To make money online at home you need to have a domain that at least has one keyword in its title to rank quicker and easier. Or at least it sure helps! What the hell does djnuttall-enterprises rank for? This site actually started out as a Plug-in-Profit site. A pre-made cookie cutter site with all the bangs and whistles. And so did thousands of other people have the exact same site.

I started out by buying the Rich Jerks ebook and followed everything he said to do in that book. The name The Rich Jerk should have been my first clue. That is where I got connected to Plug-in-Profits and Stone Evans and also the Warrior Forum. And as you guessed it many more top level A-Listers (scammers). I hung on to the Plug-in Profit site on this domain for well over a year (almost two).

The only good thing I got out of The Rich Jerk was the forum. At the time I joined there were a lot of good people. One of them was named Ruck. Ruck became one of my close friends and helped me sort out a lot of the bullshit. When Ruck moved on to form his own site and forum, Cash Tactics, so did I. Unfortunately Ruck got heavily involved in PPC advertising and there was no way I could get involved in PPC.

I remembered Ruck talking a lot about Courtney Tuttle, so I went looking for him. When I found Court’s Internet Marketing School I noticed two characters named Griz and Vic. They seemed to be having the most fun and the loudest voice at Courts site. And Court seemed to respect them a whole lot. Court also started his new blog at The Keyword Academy and has some great tips on Keywords and Learn How To Make Money Online with these keywords.

I started following Vic and Griz ever since to learn how to make money online at home their way. Of course by the time I found Vic’s Blogger Unleashed and Griz’s How to Make Money Online for Beginners, I was flat broke. This site How to Make Money Online at Home had still not made a dime. It is no wonder! I don’t know how many name changes I went through until I found one I could live with. It is no wonder that this site is only a PR2 and ranks for no main keywords.

Today I do have more than one site that I can make money online with that have the right keywords in the domain name. The sad part is, when I bought this domain name I bought it for ten years. Total Noob! So until 2016 djnuttall-enterprises.com will be around. I may not be by then, but this domain name will.

Will How to Make money Online at Home ever make any money? Probably not! But what the hell it is paid for and maybe some day I can get this site to have decent page rank for some main keywords.

How to Make Money Online at Home is like my first born child. This is the one you make all your mistakes with. Every time you try to make new rules for it you just end up screwing it up more. Each new web site I build now gets a little better and turns out better. Just like my kids. My last born is so self assured and can very much stand on their own merit. This site will always need TLC but is my first born so I will hold onto it fondly. I only have seven more years to make this site stronger and possibly find its way to earn money.

I never wanted fame or extreme fortune, I just wanted to make money online at home and be able to have the peace of mind that good or bad economy I would always have enough income to live a very comfortable life and be able to help out my children and grandchildren to find their dreams in life. Many WordPress blogs lately have been getting hacked because many people do not keep their blogs updated. Well trying to be the efficient person that I am quite often not, I went into my cpanel to install the latest upgrade from WordPress. That all went fine. But then……..

I decided to clean up my cpanel from stuff I had tried to do when I first created this blog on a different account. To make a long story short I had this blog How to Make Money Online at Home on a shared hosting plan on Hostgator. Well, when I decided to upgrade to a resellers account Hostgator support transferred my shared account to the resellers account. This blog was an add-on domain under my main account. I have little to no technical expertise when it comes to the the backend of these websites. Well I had an old add-on account in the same index and decided to delete it. And I deleted the wrong domain.

I immediately went to The Affiliate Academy and put in a big H-E-L-P post. And my good friend Justin from Blogging Zombie came to my rescue. Justin used to work for Hostgator before he started to make money online blogging, so I was sure he would know what to do. He did! He knew what to look for and what to do with the information that was already stored in my back-up on my resellers account. He spent quite a bit of time on my blog but there was on glitch he could not figure out. So he sent me on my way to Hostgator support.

Now this all happened on Friday and on Saturday Hostgator upgrades the data base on the sites. If I did not get this resolved by the end of Friday I would lose all the data on this blog. Not something I wanted to happen. So I contacted Hostgator Support and they responded almost immediately. I explained my issues and they were right on it to repair my site. The final issue was not with the folder that I had deleted it had to do with the template that I was using. Once I replaced the template with a new WordPress template the site came up with all the crucial data intact. I was never so relieved.

It really pays to have good internet friends and Justin is definitely someone I consider a friend. And it pays to have a great hosting company and Hostgator has to be one of the very best. I know I have used their support several times and they have taken care of me right away.

It is hard to make money online blogging when your blog is down or gone altogether. I am so grateful I cannot express my feelings enough to Justin except to give him at least a link from this low PR blog to his make money online blog. Justin is also listed under my Make Money Online Friends pages.

Now that my make money online blog is up and running maybe I can get back to business in helping others to find out how to make money online at home. Nobody ever said this would be easy. But you sure can get hung up and sidetracked by the things you don’t know. I definitely don’t know a lot!

Vic from Blogger Unleashed talks a lot about Karma and I think that I must have be carrying some bad karma around because the past few months have been nothing but one obstacle after another. But the good part is my income has gone up even though I have been unavailable and I am still making money online at home consistently. It may not have risen as quickly as it would have if I were building my online business on a daily bases, but the fact remains that had I had a brick and mortar business or a job working for someone else I would have been totally screwed.

It seems as though I have tons to learn about making money online and for the most part have to cover my ass when the computer takes a crap. To make a long story short, last May we had a storm go through that knocked our power out for a few days and when we did get our power restored my computer would not boot up. So after trying out different methods and failing I took my hard drive to Best Buy and had them run a check on my 4 year old computer to see what the problem was. Come to find out my motherboard was shot and I needed to get a new one. Well it was going to cost me $350 dollars to have the hard drive sent to Chicago and get a new motherboard put in and I would only get a 30 day warranty with it. For $400 dollars I could get a new hard drive but I would have to give up my XP for a Vista. I went with the Vista but all my stuff was still on my old hard drive. I recovered all that I could through the information I had available but most of the data is still sitting on that hard drive that has taken me years to accumulate. I am still hoping to get the XP hard drive up and running but for now it is sitting in a corner. Once I figure out how to get a motherboard bought and installed I plan on still using that hard drive.

Well so I bought the new hard drive thanks to the help of my kids and their belief in my make money online business. Then a move happened! This was a move that was totally unexpected and unplanned, but when opportunity knocks and you can go home again you take that leap of faith and jump. For anyone who has moved, it is not an easy task and to do it as efficiently as possible in a short period of time is more than one old lady could handle. Plus still work my 12 hour day. To make a long story short on August 1st I was able to move back into my 200 year old haunted house. The house had been abandoned for almost a year and was in unlivable condition but with a lot of muscle, sweat and many tears I now can at least occupy the dwelling. This too I could not have done had it not been for my kids and their generosity of helping with the finances. It is very humbling to have your kids basically buy your home back for you.

Due to all the turmoil my health has taken a major hit, but I am now back on the mend and I am even more determined to make money online at home just to say thank-you to my great kids and to all the people who have helped me on my journey to learn how to make money online at home.
